TinkerBooks are interactive storybooks that link words with interactivity for teaching reading. TinkerBooks helps children learn by making the connections between words, sound and concepts obvious. This research is based on the PhD Thesis of Angela Chang, from the MIT Media Lab, Personal Robots Group.

TinkerBooks were shown to encourage reading teaching behaviors in parents and children who used it.  In December 2010, we were challenged by Nicholas Negroponte to develop a TInkerBook that bootstrapped English language learning for the developing countries

So far, there are three TinkerBooks. One was developed as a proof of concept, the second was an integrated pedagogy shocase, and the third was developed specifically for developing countries.
